We set off for Albury from Canberra after a bit of school work and an extended pack up. It was good to be on the road again. The countryside was really pretty, and we listened to Jack Thompson reading poetry by Banjo Patterson as we rolled along. A quick stop for lunch at Gundagai and the dog on the tuckerbox, and then on to Albury.
We spent a great day (after school work), having a picnic and scooting around the shores of Lake Burley Griffin.
It was lovely to get some exercise and see a few sights around the town. Other things we did include a trip to black mountain in the rain and a quick round of the national gallery. Check out the photo gallery page for a taste of our Canberra adventure What a way to celebrate Australia Day: Waking up in our caravan at EPIC, Dom and I scrounged a bit of cupboard breakfast and then everyone headed off to the Farmers Markets. We were briefly tested by a false start visit to some sort of war-games convention before realising the markets were actually about 100m from where we camped! The boys started what would turn out to be actually a very healthy a delicious mostly blueberry breakfast, with a chocolate croissant which Paul declared to be the best he had ever eaten. Isaac even managed to get some on his socks and shoes.
We finally left the safe confines of Sydney for Canberra.
It’s been a mammoth effort over the last few months, but the harsh memories are beginning to fade (at least for us) |
