Our second time in Nitmiluk National Park, at rather more salubrious digs.
The weather is really starting to heat up so we decided to head the 30kms out to the National Park, which had a beautiful pool and a few shady spots to sit. Even the wildlife were grateful for a little shade from time to time. We spent our days here doing a little school work, swimming in the pool and getting the washing done. There was a little bit of planning also to be done so that we arrive in Derby in time for Emma's next job. Of the many walks available around the Gorge area, the shortest is 5kms and they got larger from there. Emma and I, seperately, did one of the walks, but that was all that came of it. The rest of the time was spent in a more relaxing fashion, with the boys getting a little screen time and Emma and I hitting the books for a read. I think it was important for us to spend some time "beside the still waters", restoring our souls, as we were being smashed by the hot days.
Emma and Isaac managed a paddle up the river one day, while I took the little guys into town to get some supplies for the coming week. The boys had a grand old lunch, but I ate very little as I was starting to feel the beginnings of a funny tummy! Hmmmm....
Our last evening was spent sitting around the pool listening to some good old favourites being strummed by a bloke with a hat. He did ok, and we sang along as we downed some hot chips and a couple of soft drinks.

All up, Katherine Gorge is a really nice place, to do a little bit of not much.
