Coming out of Lawn Hill, there was a lot of driving!
We did make a stop at one of the most significant fossil deposits in the world, but apart from Riversleigh, there was a whole lot of dirt road and rocks and a few river crossings between us and our next nights sleep.
We pushed on to Avon Downs rest area opposite the police station, as there really wasn't much happenning in Camooweal. Most of the billabongs had dried up there, and there were a few scowly faced residents already parked along the river when we arrived. Nice to get some more Spence time before we part ways again. The usual road side scenes but this time with some horses in the field beside and some French dunny graffiti very roughly translated that said something like "dont look over the edge it will cause you to fear". They were right. I took their advice, but even so the odour was quite impressive. It was a nasty flashback to pregnancy to be dry wretching (thankfully things only went so far!) while on the loo.
