This time in Darwin, it was time to take it a little easier...
With only a couple of nights left to spend with the Grandparents, we felt the need to just sit around and chat a bit. The busyness of the last couple of weeks was great, but it was also nice to slow down and tick off a couple of last things in Darwin before our time ran out. We had dinner down on the wharf as the sun set, we made a trip to the wave lagoon, and ate too much delicious icecream at Trampoline.
The very last night with our visitors was spent at some lovely relatives of Grandad's. Di (Ramon's cousin's daughter)and Tim had us all over for dinner and a nice long chat. We also met Allison, (Ramon's other cousin's daughter) whose mum lives just down the hill from us in Cardiff. It was great to spend some time with some of Dad's side of the family, and get to piece together a little more of his story as the night passed. Quite a few photos surfaced of our family and some great ones of Dad's earlier life.
For Mum and Dad's last morning in Darwin, we decided to give the duck tour a go. Well...everyone was excited, and with great anticipation, we set off through the city and made it nearly as far as the water, without actually seiing the water, before the vehicle broke down. No brakes! We sat and waited for the owner to come and fix it, but as time drew on, we found that there was no fixing this little duck and we were ferried back into town to collect our refund and head straight to the airport.
We waved Mum and Dad off at the airport, and headed out to East Point Reserve for a bit of a play and a lie down. It was lovely to just cruise along at a slower pace and enjoy the scenery, especially after a late night for the kids the night before.
Our last morning, of course, was spent madly getting a few last jobs done, but that all passed off fairly easily and what doesn't get done we can sort in Katherine, or Derby, or Broome or even Perth!
Our last afternoon was spent watching Star Wars with the boys in our caravan, to everyones great satisfaction, except Grandad's probably, as he is now back in Morisset.
