Coffs Harbour

The first week of our school holidays was rapidly passing by. So we stopped in Coffs Harbour to really get the holiday vibe going.

We had to make our way up to meet Emma in Ballina, so looking at the map, at what was a reasonable stopping place, Coffs Harbour was it! Marylin Smith was generous enough to house us for a couple of nights with only a days notice.  You can see the reflection of our van parked on the street, in the window behind the boys.

We did fairly standard but really fun holiday things including; Diggers beach, lunch at the Big Banana, and a visit to the Candy Kitchen. It was great to see how the sweets were made. Boiled, streched out, run through the machine, cooled and smashed into all the tiny sweets. Our big day was rounded out with a couple of rides on the toboggan at the Big Banana.
For dinner, we had a lovely catch up with Bruce and Beth Curnuck, Maureen and their kids. Fish and chips at the co-op, followed by a walk out to (and up) Mutton Bird Island. Isaac had a young mutton bird brush against his leg as it raced across the path nearby.

Friday was a moving day, but we made the most of a late start by heading down to the water slide at the Big Banana for some slippery action. Dom was the most adventurous of us, being the first to go down the biggest slide. It was a great couple of hours.

We headed back up Island View Close, and packed up ready to drive north.
